Restaurants, pubs and theatres ban Meta's 'spy glasses' over privacy fears

What consolation is it for the subject to realize (via the blinking LED,) that their picture was taken; by then it could've been instantly shared? What recourse does Meta offer the victim after the fact?

A blinking LED light may thwart surreptitious recording but falls far short of real privacy.

Some nightclubs (very common in Berlin, but you also see it elsewhere to some extent) require you to put (generally bright orange) stickers over your phone cameras on entry. Seems like an obvious solution here.

This was expected. Although nobody is objecting to the same thing which is already happening with dash cams in cars recording driving behavior and even crimes on roadways and in parking lots - - - I predict there will be instances of aggressive encounters in public spaces, especially in restaurants, where people who don't want to be filmed demand the folks wearing these glasses put them away, and if they don't, those who feel threatened rip them off the faces of those wearing recording glasses and throw them to the ground and stomp on them. To prevent these sorts of violent encounters that alarm and unsettle everyone inside, I have to support all restaurants banning them, notices posted at the entrance, and you get bounced out immediately if you put them on inside a restaurant.

You're essentially carrying a video and audio camera that feeds to Meta --- and you're footing the bill for their data collection.
